Orton-Gillingham
Intervention

Welcome to Learn 2 Read!

Small Pink Owl.png

Hi! My name is Amanda. I am the founder and sole practitioner behind Learn 2 Read, where I provide one-on-one and group Orton-Gillingham (OG) instructional sessions for students with dyslexia and other literacy-based learning differences.

As a certified OG Practitioner with OG Canada, I use the OG approach–an evidence-based approach designed to teach students how to read so that they can read to learn. The OG approach is highly structured, sequential, and multi-sensory, helping students develop literacy skills through explicit instruction in phonological awareness, decoding, spelling patterns, and reading comprehension. Rather than relying on memorization, students learn to understand the structure and patterns of the English language.

I work closely with families to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that is tailored to each child's unique needs, helping students to build both literacy skills and self-confidence. Whether you're just beginning to seek support or have been searching for the right fit, I’m excited to be a part of your child's education journey!

Testimonials

Parent Testimonial

My son began a wonderful journey of working with Amanda to support the development of his literacy skills. We sought out Amanda due to her expertise with the Orton-Gillingham program, as we believed it would enhance our son's academic and social emotional progress.  We committed to twice weekly sessions and quickly noted that our son was not only developing new skills but had made a connection with Amanda that has continued throughout the years (to this day)! Amanda has a gift and naturally develops connections with children; furthermore, she believes in supporting the "whole child".  She sees things from a positive perspective and focuses on areas of strength and ways to support areas that require growth.

Throughout the years, we received consistent feedback on our son's progress (i.e. emails, written assessments, conversations) and she was always open to answering questions and engaging in meaningful conversations. Amanda's support over the years has rounded out and supported our child's educational experience and, I believe, helped to develop him to be a life-long learner who isn't afraid to seek support when needed.  We are truly grateful for Amanda and the positive, professional, respectful, and caring relationship she developed with our son.
